The Movie Room Plan and Paint

We’ve pretty much had a movie room in every home we’ve lived in! This is house #8 for us! I’ve given up saying dream home or forever home because honestly the dream changes, life happens and sometimes you’ve got to jump on a new opportunity when it comes your way! Okay, back to the movie room. When we bought this house we knew it had awesome potential to go all out on a movie room design. We are talking about dark walls, trim and doors. Moody lighting to add to the cinema vibe, a projector screen, and real movie room chairs that you can lean back in. We want to feel like we are in a real theater but have it feel more comfortable, homey, and elevated.

I’m excited to share the details, the plan, the hiccups (there’s always hiccups), the furniture/decor we meticulously picked out and the final reveal when it’s done!

MOOD BOARD

THE PLAN

-Theater seating with auto lean back, chargers, and cool lights must be easy to clean. (8 chairs)

-Dark paint on the walls, trim, ceiling and doors. (iron Ore by Sherwin Williams)

-Moody gold lighting

-Paintable outlet covers and vents (game changer)

-Blackout shades

-Side tables for extra drinks and snacks to set down.

-Framed artwork that is classy, vintage, and makes a statement without stealing the show.

-A big comfy rug that is subtle but matches the color palette. (Cream, brown, black, grey, gold)

-A few 12x20 pillows with fabric that ties in the colors and warms up the chairs.

-Throw blankets to decorate with and cover up with when it’s chilly.

I’ll link the things I’ve ordered so far. I’m still deciding on rugs, shades, artwork, and throw blankets!
