Fall Front Porch Inspiration

The front porch was one of the things that attracted us to this home and property.

I absolutely loved the wrap around porch, the double wood door, the windows, and all those hanging baskets on the porch! Unfortunately the wood door gets hit hard by wind and rain and it had some bad damage on it. I knew a good coat of exterior paint would make the doors look new, protect them, and give them a barrier against future rainstorms. I knew I wanted a black door. And Black Magic from Sherwin Williams was the perfect shade of black. I chose a Satin finish for a more Matte look and I used a grey tinted exterior primer before I painted on the final color.

Here is a before picture before we painted the doors black.

You know how you picture what a project will look like when finished and you just hope it's as good as what's in your head? Well I was blown away by the black paint and how it really cleaned up the home! I'm so in love with this porch.

I ordered two wreaths from Bed Bath and Beyond. I added a caramel silk ribbon. I purchased two Rosemary trees from Sam's Club and then I hunted all day for a basket that was the right size. All the baskets I was finding were either too tall, too wide, too short or too expensive. I finally found these at Home Goods and they were exactly what I was picturing in my mind. The square wooden baskets I had on hand and had previously purchased them at Target. We also decided to change out the exterior lights. It is amazing what a difference new lighting can make on the appearance of the home. We found these lights at Wayfair and they were around $100 compared to the $300-600 I was seeing everywhere else.
