Fall Mantel

I’ve decided that I don’t have as much time and energy as I used to at this phase in my life. It’s so busy and honestly I’m in the best time of my life with the kids ages (14,12, and 8). I really want to decorate for Fall and be able to extend that decor all the way through November. Sure you can add or take away a few things but I want to try to be more intentional and thoughtful about putting things out in September that last through Thanksgiving. We love having beautiful decor in our house as a backdrop to the busy everyday life, the memories, puzzle days, game nights and Sunday dinners! It’s totally worth the effort but I just don’t have the time to switch it out every single month especially in busy Fall.

Today I scrapped my day’s plans and decided to have a creative fun day. I went to Joanns and picked out the prettiest fall stems, garland and add in pieces I could find! What a fun and relaxing day it was!

Start With Greenery

I ran upstairs and grabbed all my Christmas garland because they are pretty, thick and I knew they’d work great with Fall leaves and garland over them.

Add In Fall Color

I picked out a color palette that included plum, browns, rust, tans, and plenty of shades of orange. I added 2 fall leaves garland as my base.

Use Stems And Fillers

I added in as many stems as I could find. I plan to add in pumpkins but couldn’t find my bin in my attic. I’ll add those in later.

How To Attach

I like to use command strips to hang my garland on my mantel. I use lots of them. I use black zip ties to tie in the stem pieces and connect them together and help them lay the way I want them to.
