Gallery wall in the making

I had this exact same gallery wall setup in my last kitchen. It looked beautiful on the wall but the catch was all the frames were empty. I couldn’t decide on which photos would be perfect enough to hang in these frames. How would I decide which photos out of so many that I’ve taken over the years and how would I arrange them so they go together? I never could resolve all these questions in my head so I left them empty. Everyday I enjoyed this gallery wall and in the back of my head would have this nagging thought that I need to make time to print pictures. I laughed when we sold our last home and I took each empty frame off the wall knowing I never got around to this.

So when we moved here I found the wall I wanted to hang these pictures on and I asked Billy to help me hang them and he refused haha. He said “we are not hanging those frames up without pictures in them.” Thank you Billy, you gave me the motivation I needed! Last week (after 3 months in the new home) I finally printed pictures. I didn’t put any pressure on myself I just went through my camera roll and picked out pictures that stood out to me and picked a few old favorites and there it was… 9 perfectly imperfect images selected. I chose the black and white filter to tie them all together so they look cohesive in their matching frames and I printed them in 4x6. I laid them out this morning to organize them and I had to laugh again to realize that the frames call for 5x7 prints. So there I was uploading the images again and sending them to the 1 hour print department at my local Walmart. I finally have all 9 5x7’s prints laid out on top off the frames and tomorrow we will officially hang them up FOR REAL this time!

Hanging the gallery frames (which are going to be hung in the entryway) has me asking all kinds of entry way questions. What color to paint the walls? Do I add trim to the walls? I’m trying to hang the prints and not pressure myself to put the entire entry together but I know it’ll make me want to! I’ll snap a few pictures tomorrow after I hang them. Maybe you can help me decide on paint, trim, and decor.
